Jason Bresnehan

Jason Bresnehan, 37, founded Bresnehan Ventures in 1993 and the firm undertook corporate advisory and business consulting roles building a client base within Tasmania and Queensland. In 1995, Jason partnered with the now late Peter Purtell and the firm traded has Noble House Tasmania, in an alliance with Melbourne based Noble House Investment Banking and undertook corporate advisory and capital raising for early stage technology companies, property development companies and south east Asian companies establishing operations within Australia.
Peter Purtell was a pioneer of investment banking in Australia and as Treasurer of one of Australia’s earliest investment banks Australia Bank he traded Australia’s first Australia dollar on the day it floated in December 1983. Peter passed away in April 1999, and the firm changed its name back to Bresnehan Ventures and commenced contracting to Momentum Ventures, a $30 million early stage technology venture capital firm based in Melbourne.
At Momentum Ventures Jason performed the full cycle of venture of capital investing including deal identification, preliminary assessment, due diligence, legals, domestic and international business development and partnering, board directorships, series A capital raisings, series B capital raisings and exits.
Jason also acted as CEO of one of Momentum’s investees - Biovend, a company commercialising robotic dispensing technology for biological reagents and chemicals. At Momentum Jason worked across the sectors of biotech, digital post production equipment, building electronics, supply chain software, drug development and polymer recycling.

Prior to founding Bresnehan Ventures, Jason trained for three and hand half years as an accountant at KPMG Launceston working in private business services, taxation and insolvencies and re-co constructions.
Jason holds a Bachelors degree in Business from the University of Tasmania and is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
